Fantastic & rare antique Victorian era 7 1/8" tall portrait miniature or picture frame with genuine tortoise shell & incised ivory veneers, oval gilt bronze view and wonderful condition! Gorgeous! This one likely held a portrait miniature originally, somewhere along the way but the frame remains and is as impressive as can be, both visually and where condition is concerned. The tortoise & ivory in relatively thin veneer strips, adhered to a wood base and the inner bronze oval portion held in place with the original tabs. A beautiful older piece and just one of several fabulous antique picture frames that we're adding today and in the week to come. Very good to excellent condition. Possibly a tiny nip or two but no notable damage. It is missing what would have been an oval back insert but we've left it as is because it's easier to add your miniature or portrait. See images for all measurements.
