An elegant Napoleon era portrait miniature painting, uniquely in a tiny easel frame which is quite unusual in early portrait miniatures. The forward swept hair and high collar and jacket of the Napoleon era, it remains in excellent condition, original beveled and polished cover glass and silk velvet back. The frontispiece of the little frame looks to be karat gold but I have not acid tested it, thinking it might be more likely plate or super-thin gold plaque atop the brass, as is sometimes seen in this era but mostly on snuff boxes with miniatures. Found in France, and from my own collections being disbursed now.  Full measurements noted on the photos, but his face is a tiny 1/2" from chin to top of head - incredibly detail.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, as noted a rare tiny gem frame is an easel back frame and is original to the portrait. Crisp beveled and polished original cover glass has protected it well. I didn't remove him from frame as he looked very clean, but digital photos under the photo lighting catches impossibly tiny dust and makes it look like white spots. There are no flaws to the painting.
