Fabulous antique French hand painted portrait miniature style painting, a romantic 'naughty' scene with guitar, cherub or putti sculpture & furniture, entitled "L'Amant Pressant" after Jean Baptiste Huet (1745–1811). The title written on the back, L'Amant Present or "The Demanding Lover" and isn't this one just charming. Beautiful vivid colors and quite interesting with all of the furniture, etc. in the background and surrounding the two main figures. Displayed in the original solid wood frame with gilt or brass bezel and ever so slightly convex glass A gorgeous work!
Very good to excellent condition. I removed the painting to scan it and there is no damage, chips or cracks etc. and the glass is original. The gilt bronze or brass bezel does have a small dent or two. See pictures for all measurements.
