Rare and magnificent 19th century French guilloche enamel mat, border and bale with 51 large 6.5mm paste gems with all the brilliance of diamonds, none missing along with several on the large bale - whether you hang or wear this one as a large pendant on gold chain or velvet ribbon, it is spectacular. An original artist's painting of an 18th century woman but painted in the mid - later 1800s as a souvenir or commemorative miniature. Heavy, jewel-like and just stunning. Very good to Excellent condition for age and type, there are no hairlines or chips to the pink guilloche enamel mat, and no loss to any of the facet-set paste stones or faux diamond gems. Each one is nearly equal to a ct. in size, and remain very brilliant. None missing. Painting is also without damage or hairlines in the wafer. The frame is heavy, convex on both sides for an 'oyster' shape, I have not taken it apart at all. What I initially thought might be a little halo-like haze to the painting, I realize upon closer examination is her shawl. A truly fabulous rare item, both frame and painting.
