Colorful printed silk panels were a premium tucked into early latest 1800s to earliest 1900s tobacco and cigarette packs - collector's items. Someone long ago collected all of these and pieced them together as you see, likely to put in a frame. Perhaps the panel is salvaged from a frame. I found it just like this in England (from memory) long ago. Can't you just see it, ironed flat again and framed nicely for a den or even a pub or fine cigar shop. Clearning out decades of antique fabric, needlework and tapestry panels. This one is rare! Approximately 15-16" square. Not substantial enough to make up as a pillow top - it's old silk, but perfect to frame.
Very good for age and type, very nicely hand-pieced and ready for framing. Slight darkening of age, and wonderful printed images and flags. Needs to be framed for best preservation. Old silk, but each one is intact and will show just beautifully, protected under glass in your frame.
