I have a zillion beautiful old French frames, and am finally beginning to work them up to sell. If you're wanting to put together a tabletop or piano or desk grouping of your favorite photos, these are splendid grouped in various sizes and shapes, all sold separately. Almost all are c.1850-1880, "Napoleon III" era, mid-Victorian in age. A few are earlier, none later.
This one is a gorgeous shaped larger-sized frame, 7.25" wide and 6" tall. Look at the dore bronze crossed torches top on this one! It has 2 round apertures, beautifully set into pale pink moire silk which has been refurbished from the old, and they have convex original glass still in each side (rare). A hanging loop top and intact original 19th century convex cover glass in oval. Ready to add your small photo and display either hanging or with easel stand. Measurements are noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition, beautifully crafted. These old ones have fine detail and this one has no damage to report. Thick cast, brilliant dore bronze. A cloth (silk moire, refurbished beautifully) inner mat into which the aperture is set, flanked by appliqués. The back is also silk velvet so no matter what angle of view this one has, it will display beautifully. My favorite type of French frames. A metal tabbed back, easy to open, fully intact.
