Fabulous antique Victorian era hand carved oak 13.5" table box or chest, entirely covered in highly detailed Black Forest style & classical or mythological figural carvings! Yes, a bit rough but what a beauty if you're into hand carved pieces. Circa 1890s we think. We were actually contemplating just removing the top/lid panel and sell alone as a decorative wall hanging plaque but i just couldn't bear to simply throw the rest away. Do with it what you want but, you have to admit that it is still a fabulous decorative accent even in its current state.
As is condition. As you can see, the inner lock is missing and there is some separating visible at the corner joints, also a bit of an 'underbite' with the front of the lid panel back just a bit from where it originally would have rested. A small chip or two to the carvings possible. See pictures for all measurements.
