A truly elegant handmade French fan, wood guards and sticks which have been intricately carved are mounted with one of the prettiest black mesh leaves ever. Layered draping embroidered, and then elaborately sequined, as well. And in such fine condition for its age. This one is strong and sturdy and could be used or displayed with much attention garnered either way. It opens fully to 41cm.
Very good to excellent condition throughout. No holes in the black mesh, and I have not counted the sequins but they are a shimmering constellation of beautiful handwork and seem to be missing none. I think this was someone's Edwardian era Grand Tour souvenir, perhaps, long treasured and not put to use. No box attends it, but it's definitely been stored very well these 115+ years since made. Lots of photos to show it well for your review. So pretty!
