Rare! While we do find these now and then in complete form, it's quite rare to find one complete, with the tiny scent flask or flacon, bottle, and in such fine condition. All pieces are 18k gold, marked as such with tiny French control marks associated with the early 1800s, and the set is definitely the finest quality, Palais Royal calibre. Kept nearly immacualate, I've sourced this one out of England and suspect by condition it might have been someone's Grand Tour souvenir. Dating to the time of Napoleon, you see French Empire patterning on the elegantly worked gold implements, and also the tiny scent bottle. It looks like opaline, but might well be Old Paris porcelain or perhaps even Sevres. The tiny plaques on each side carry sentiments. People will ask total weight, even though it's not something that is priced for 'melt value' and it's not possible to weigh only the gold, of course, but it is 24.55 grams TW. Full measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, not even the old mirror in lid is lost to time. Same for silk pad, which protects the mirror and tools in their fittings. All pieces are original to this box, the long one toward the back is a retracting pencil, which seems to need a slight adjustment to open fully, though I can see the mechanism is complete, and just needs a lead. Tip of the bodkin/ear wax spoon has a slight bend to it, which I should have straightened before photos were taken, and will do so. No chips at all to that fabulous perfume flask, which even has the original stopper, and just a tiny tiny ding to the 18k gold cap, no breaks or cracks in the neck. Needle case, scissors, thimble are all pristine, really. And the case is remarkable for age and type. A spectacular find, museum quality throughout.
