While the 150 year or older old silk yarns have faded slightly in color (see images, front and back to compare), this is a 19th century Napoleon III era panel which was never used, never made up. Likely created to be a tabletop center ornament, or perhaps an alter cloth, it survives well and would make up beautifully to use as either that or as a large opulently fringed and down-filled decorator pillow. Those antique panel pillows are being shown in all the top end decorator magazines now, even in the most modern interiors. A simple project, takes about an hour to complete a pillow, even installing a zipper back. For 30 years I've bought up the finest antique tapestry and embroidery panels with the intention of making them up, and here they are, still waiting for me to find the time. You benefit, since they're a fraction of the cost they would be once made up. Full measurements also noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. I can see some of the pale blue silk yarns have faded in color over the years (see photos of backside original yarns), the finished panel still remains exquisitely beautiful. Entirely embroidered by hand, and worked on a supple strong linen canvas, the large panel is ready for finishing as you'd like. Very little loss of the old silk, which is soft and elegant. No holes, no tears. Ready to complete as you wish.
