While the lady in our little painting is definitely a figure from 18th century, Louis XV to Louis XVI era Courtiers, but I feel quite certain the painting is a 19th century rendition to satisfy the early 1800s Grand Tour travelers whose appetite for small renditions of historical figures or 'aprés' (after) paintings they'd seen as their memento or souvenirs. This would be one of those. Still, coming up on 200 years at this point, she holds the coy gaze and her delicate diaphanous gown and headdress repeat in the fan she holds. Charming, start to finish. Frame is a locket-like brass frame. Full measurements noted on the photos. 

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Frame is a locket-like brass frame. I did not open it for photos without the cover glass, but I think the body is in 2 parts, one fitting into the other, and it likely had a glass-covered aperture to the backside. At this point the backside has a panel of antique silk fabric. A fine quality frame with hinged bale, could be worn as a pendant.
