The case is spectacular and very rare - a museum piece, though it's a little bent so it will not close completely. It's alright, as you'll want to display this one so the case is shown. Inside, there is the original portrait miniature but, lacking a cover glass (if it ever had one) someone has rubbed around the outer portion of the wafer and removed a good deal of her portrait. You can see she is a beautiful young woman. Her case in fine Georgian era or Louis XV-XVI era is of the finest scale belly leather of the stingray, a covering in high popularity mid-1700s. This one has rim studs or "pique" in either brass or perhaps gold (relatively like to be gold - I did not test). The front of the case is aglow with the small gold pins, as well.

Good to very good for age and type. Though it has flaws to both case and portrait miniature. It also has a low price, considering age and importance. Hinge is working, clasp is not. Photos show that it is, lacking a clasp, prone to be a bit gaped when closed, though I can push it closed, with no clasp to hold it, it won't meet smoothly, as shown. Measurements noted on the photos.
