It is not perfect. It is very old. D'or finish on carved wood with a plaster dip, this would have been the capital of a tall pillar, either inside or outside decoration to a wall. It is flat on back, so likely from interior cabinetry paneling.  These are so fabulous either hung on the wall in a group, or hung alone as a shelf for either a magnificent platter or important porcelain plate's display, or to act as shelf for a framed painting. Someone prior to my buying it in France has done something to it from the backside, perhaps to pad against damage to their wall, and has already put a hanging apparatus there. Measurements are noted on the photos. I bought it in France.

Very good for age and type, this is probably nearer 300 years than 200 years of age, and we've shown it from all angles so you can assess the loss it has sustained. Just as it is, it calls forth ancient history, doesn't it. Stunning in company of antiques and art, and at home among modern settings, too. I've seen these raised up on a couple of thick wire or slender dowels, a plinth below, standalone art on a desk or tabletop, too - superb! Solid heavy old wood, a few woodworm holes.
