He's one of those white metal French exotic animals on plinth, fitted with a back pack saddle which would, we think, once have held a glass barrel for liqueur, and perhaps 8 small glass cups on those platforms - like the old Blackamoors, the donkeys, bulls, others made in the same manner, c.1840-70s, Napoleon III era. Sold from the boutiques of the Palais Royal, a fun trinket which have become very rare to find now. This camel is one of the large figures. You can see he once was polychromed. He's clean and charming and, while I didn't have any petit-fours or French chocolates to display on him, you get the idea of how he can be used at table. If you happen to be fortunate enough to have a Blackamoor liqueur set, he's fabulous with those.

Very good for age and type. No breaks in the old white metal figure and with just traces of the old polychrome, you can see he was once painted as a typical camel (visible on neck). There is a ring handle up top. I think it once had a fitting with barrel, as mentioned, and while the platform is unique, I expect that it would have once held the more typical small cups. This is how we found him in France. You'll love using him, as we have, I'm sure. Full measurements noted on the photos. Those are kind of large cookies, really. I needed Z chocolates, didn't I.
