A sweet little mid-1800s French eglomise Grand Tour souvenir perfume bottle, long dauber stopper, goat cart carriage and cranberry glass. The view up top is "La Bourse", (essentially, the National Bank of France, like our federal reserve). c.1850-70, Napoleon III era. The charming little trinket would likely have come originally from one of the boutiques flanking the garden promenade of the old Palais Royal, formerly the palace of Cardinale Richelieu. The tiny Paris souvenir painting is only slightly more than 1/2" in diameter, and it is set into the rippled mount of the hinged cap. A full bottle shroud on this one, it does not lift out of the carriage. Two little pressed metal goats in full-harness and all still firmly mounted on the old alabaster plinth.

Very good to excellent condition, no breaks or chips on the vulnerable old alabaster (most have some), and the cranberry glass perfume bottle is fine still protected in its shroud of ormolu atop the goat cart. The very small souvenir painting (eglomise - back painted glass) is also without damage and up close you can see people, carriages, and the Bourse (purse) or main financial institution of France. Once a popular site to visit, most don't wander that far from old Paris' central city, making this a rare scene for your collection.  The rather unique stopper inside might not be original, it is one with a long dauber, end of which appears to have broken off. Measurements noted on the photos. In my experience, this one is rare, both for the cranberry glass, the extra small painting, and its condition.
