If you've followed us for a while, you know I love these 19th century Paris souvenirs, the back-painted glass insets showing favorite views of Paris. This one is mid-1800s, an early one, and is a pocket watch holder and 'vide poche' (empty pocket) or watch and jewelry stand. The view is a favorite, and a bit rare: Saint-Sulpice, Paris. Very good to excellent condition throughout. No breaks or chips to the heavy alabaster base, and none to the wonderful souvenir view. Large eglomise, it is 1 3/4" in diameter and very nicely detailed. A fine pressed brass ormolu framework and stand, there really are no flaws to note. Aged patina, and the old fabric backing where your pocket watch rests shows age, but it complete and all original.
