Her jewelry and tiara and gown help us date her to c.1810-1818, Napoleonic French Empire, when fashion sets her as a well-positioned young French society girl. Red coral everywhere: Tiara, crucifix, and that's a pair of Palais Royal buckles at her Empire bustling (on blue ribbon). I have had several sets and singles over time. Red coral in it's time was a talisman of protection for young girls, a bit of a morality icon. This girl, then, was amply protected by her family.  Pretty face, she would have been a child in the late 1700s, and would have lived through perhaps France's most famous era, the expansion of the French Empire under Napoleon's leadership. The miniature is not signed, unless on outer edge or backing (I didn't take her out of her frame).

Very good to excellent in her original period frame with a bright gilt mat and her original cover glass intact. There is a hairline to the wood frame at the top center, visible in our images on purpose. One could easily close it with a fingertip of wood wax-fill, but we want you to know it's there. Tight, stable. Measurements are noted on our photos.
