This 19th century devotional souvenir has a fabulous hand carved wood frame, made like cathedral doors and with 2 hinged panels opening outward to reveal a wonderful Limoges enamel plaque. The slightly convex copper plaque is worked in the same method of Limoges enamels dating back centuries, and adds the shimmer of foil gown and gilt crowns to the symbolic images of Mary and Christ. The frame is 8.5" tall, 5" wide, and is deep at 1.25", with an easel back, the interior of which has gold embossment of the purveyor, "Maison Bleue, A. Noël, Face a' l'Eglish des Victoires, PARIS". Dating between c.1880-1910, it's in quite beautiful and revered condition throughout.
Very good to excellent condition, both hand carved frame and the artist's superb kiln-fired Limoges enamel set within. A narrow mat of crimson velvet frames it in and cushions it within the frame. No chips, no cracks, no damage to ether the enamel work or the frame. Full measurements noted on the photos.
