French oil painting, a landscape of forest overlooking fields and hills in distance. A beautiful, restful scene that is still housed beautifully in the original 19th century French frame. A view of backside shows the age, it's definitely 19th century, and while our artist has signed only with the initial P, or is it a combined JP, and given us no date, it's a charming pastoral and in a sophisticated palette ifs not a listed artist. Each person has art within, and this individual saw the composition better than they knew their materials. You can see that the old oil has crackles in the thickest application parts (look at images). Still, the overall effect is gorgeous, slightly to the Impressionist feel, isn't it?
Good to very good for age and type, no tears nor rips to stretched linen canvass and the old frame remains in very nice condition. Ready to hand and enjoy with nothing more than addition of a hanging wire, unless you wish to use the eyebolt that is already installed top and center back. Displays beautifully.
