I have always loved these! Now and then through the decades we've found some in fine condition. This one among them. A really appealing cast dark metal prancing horse pulls this carriage with a complete and unbroken mother of pearl shell 'egg' casket - a trinket box from the boutiques of the famed Palais Royal, earliest 1800s. The Palais Royal was a gathering place for Royals, Nobility, and afterward, Napoleon's Empire and officers, international dignitaries from 17th century onward. Theater, dining, a beautiful garden flanked by a promenade of enticing boutiques, stores selling the very finest goods in the world from china to silver, to elaborate travel boxes and also opaline and trinkets like these. Fun to collect. This one is 5" long overall. Possibly a thimble or sewing items etui, box. Full measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition, no chips nor breaks in either the alabaster base or the mother of pearl shell, which does show a little natural imperfections but not breaks or cracks. No flaws to the ormolu carriage's framework, and the horse is also perfect.  Charming as can be. The wheels are stationary, do not turn on this one.
