Written on the painting, in addition to that family shield I have not identified, is "Maria CH de la Bastine, 1897".  When I found this one I thought sure it would be a listed artist, but I have started to think perhaps not, or perhaps it is the name of the Woman who sat for the painting. I have found nothing on either one. Perhaps someone will recognize the insignia on the shield included with her portrait. She is in her maturity, but look at her - a real beauty in her youth and elegant in her portrait here. The fine French frame is, as well. So many of the old portrait miniatures in these brass-backed mounts have been removed from, (likely in this case) a wooden frame board sometimes, in this period, covered in old silk velvet or fabric. The fabric deteriorates and is cast off with the board. This one is likely one of those. Measurements noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, the wafer and painting are both excellent, splendid in fact. The frame is rather unique, and as noted above, I think removed from a wooden back-frame board. She will hang beautifully thus with your collection. I found her in France.
