Rare 17th century portrait miniature, oil painting on copper plaque, L'Empereur, or at least a woman of high nobility, likely Northern European with her starched ruffled collar and pearl-trimmed V-bodice gown. One might be able to research an identity or at least a family name from the crest included with her portrait. This reminds me so much of the royal and noble family portraits filling Dutch and German museums. Found in France, she doesn't appear to have ever been in a frame. Full measurements noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Our photo lights really catch any tiny particle of dust and you see some white specs on surface which are that. Look to other photos in our group to see - the white line on her lip in a couple photos disappear in another photo because it's surface particle and not a flaw. Beautiful oil painting in miniature.
