Such a sweet tiny painting, that beautiful baby's face is only 1/2" from chin to hairline. The side-part typically indicates a boy. The darling child is nicely preserved, certainly a treasure to the parent or grandparent who so treasured it. Based on the type of mount, we know it is latest 1700s through as late as 1830. No artist's signature, and we have no ID. I found this precious little one in France.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, with measurements of this tiny gem of a portrait noted on our photos. The wafer is perfectly protected, and photos are through the cover glass so perhaps a little glare. Tiny enough to have tucked into a sewing box, a purse, a pocket. Perhaps sent to grandparents in its time, as photography was not known until much later on.
