I do not mean "gold plated" when I say 14k or higher "plaque" (It is likely 15k to 16k). We do find a surprising number of these 18th century frames which have a slender gold plaque which is actually bonded to the underlying brass. At the edges you can see the thickness - not like just a plating. While we don't have her name or an artist's signature, we know this young and beautiful woman would have belonged to a family of Nobility, title, landed gentry. To have this portrait done was, itself, a claim to station in life. A Georgian era woman outdoors, clouds and sky become her. Full measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout - a stunning fine painting. No surface loss or damage, it's obvious it had been sealed for centuries and opened cleanly for the interior of the cover glass to be cleaned. Outside of the frame, the wafer is very slightly warped, side edges a mm or 2 raised if lying flat. Original cover glass still intact. A magnificent 18th century painting.
