A little work of art of a frame. Almost jewelry, really. The open work gild metal is also shaped in dimension, and it's mounted with a fabulous set of 7 cabochons of copper worked by the artisans of Bresse, France, kiln-fired enamel work layered in many layers, foil-backed so they shimmer and glow. Further, small semi-precious gems are set throughout. The only other one I know of like this is nearly double our price. Odds are it will return to France. You'll want to learn about the 19th century enamelist community of Bresse. I happen to also have a carte-de-visite photo frame worked in same atelier, same gem and enamels, also listing today. Very good to excellent condition, I see nothing at all to note by way of a flaw. Easel or hanging loop on back, all the gems and enamel plaques in place, no loss and no damage. These are so precious, the few that remain of the few that were created are truly treasures. Measurements noted on the photos.
