Way back a couple decades when I purchased her in France, the auction house had an ID and the info that she was a dwarf but in her 20s when her portrait was painted, c.1800-1815. I cannot now locate that old auction house listing sheet, so I will note the information I remember, lacking the name/ID. While I've seen paintings of some Royal dwarves in various museums, notably in Vienna where also a DNA mutation left the Royal family with hirsutism, so numerous very old images looked like werewolves. I don't mean to sound mean at all. I have loved this unusual image and kept her long. But it's time to let even the rare ones go.  If you believe she is, instead, a blond child, ok, but the body proportion and head, and the age to her face and her style of dress support the auction house's information. She holds a rose, also more indicative of an adult's portrait. Still, you choose.  RARE.

Very good to excellent condition, it's obvious to me she was a cherished family member who kept her for many generations. There is no damage to the painting, gouache on thin natural wafer, and her frame has not been knocked about. Unusual, unique, and obviously well-loved. She is protected beneath the intact cover glass.  Brass mat is well-polished, still.
