A beautiful little 19th century Impressionist manner oil painting, interior of a church, which is just in from France. I'm often drawn to interiors, and this one had added appeal. Almost a prayer on its own, so lovingly done. The artist did not sign it, and it doesn't appear to have ever been framed - not that art in France needs a frame, so many hang as they are, or are incorporated with book shelves display, perhaps even simply on the wall with a couple of little nails. I've detailed the top left corner, which might be evidence of how it was hung. Simple heavy card, not really a board, the oil painting as fine as many in museums, definitely Impressionistic in style. Full measurements noted on photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type, you can see that it was never in a frame, but was likely hung on a humble home's wall with 2 small nails (note upper corners). No real damage, no folds or bends, no paint loss other than to the upper left corner of the heavy card upon which it is painted. I find no signature. Rich accomplished brushstrokes, a thrilling palette of color compliments, and that light stained glass. Religious subject, but to me it's primarily a French interior.
