The 18th century hand painted portrait miniatures tend to be just tiny, and this is a prime example. His face is just 1/2", and look how expressive it is, blown up to a massive size. I don't see a signature, but I also did not open this miniature in order to check the very outer perimeter of the wafer, which does sometimes have the artist's signature. Sealed from the back, and with a clean intact original cover glass, I simply took his photos through the slightly convex glass. In hand, he's even clearer and finer. I found him in France, and he wears the fashion and hair of c.1750-70s. The frame is finely crafted wood, and only 2 1/2" x 2 1/8" oval.

Very good to excellent for age and type, I find nothing at all by way of flaw to report. The frame is a very superior one for its era, and the painting is superb. You see his jacket and ruffle, and a hint of the broad bow tying his braided hair in back - he's definitely c.1750-80, equivalent of Georgian era, but Louis XV - XVI in France culture, history.
