Charming antique Victorian era Black Forest hand carved wood spool & needle case with delightful little hiking figure on top, complete with pack on his back and including a 19th century English treen tape measure! Two pieces included here, well three if you count the lid and base in the needle case alone. Sewing enthusiast or accoutrement collectors, these don't really go together but we're grouping and offering as a pair. Both wonderful old sewing notions and guaranteed to please. Don't miss them!
Very good condition. The hiker's walking sticks are a bit bent but who's to say that wasn't the original intent... Likely a tiny nip or two to the wood but no breaks, damage or repairs to note. The cloth measuring tape appears to be fully intact but it is somewhat aged though the spool winder all works fine. Spool is 4 3/4” in total height and has a 1” base diameter, the figure alone is a mere 1 3/4” tall. The tape measure has a 1” diameter and is 5/8” thick (1 1/4” thick with winder) and the tape itself is roughly 50cm in length.
