Still pulling gorgeous needlework embroidery and needlepoint panels from my lifelong collections. It's amazing how many exquisite down-filled decorator pillows I thought I would sometime find the time to make! This panel, c.1850-70, is complete and excellent, likely made to upholster a chair seat, based on the large size (33" square) but has never been used so remains in excellent condition. I've tried to show how one might cut it for a matching pair of pillows, or for a large square pillow top or for a huge 28" round top for your decorator pillow project so you can see how it might best work for you. Superb French colors and forms will work in modern to antique decor and these tapestry panel pillows are showing up in all the top decorator panels - splash of color and unique accent to warm up the most starkly modern furnishings.
Very good to excellent condition, never made up, no fade to yarns, no damage to the hundreds of hours' work done in wool yarns. As you can see, very slightly off-square, which happens if the needlepoint is hand worked and with slightly more pull. It can be 'yanked' back to square by pulling both sides along the entire length, holding it like a diamond-shape. That helps re-settle the wool yarn stitches. It's not much off-square but slightly so. Once made up and fringed luxuriously, the small off-square wouldn't show anyway, but worth a mention. Extra canvas border to work with, too. No odor, clean and no moth damage. Archivally stored for the 30 or so years I've kept it.
