Just in from France, this fabulous old top hat and gentleman's leather luggage to carry it. Still has a wonderful interior, the old fitting of a collar box (and cumber bun, cuff links, jewelry, etc., which has the old original dressing mirror still perfectly intact, too. I see this, like others we've had and sold, in a period movie as a prop (yes, we sell to the lot props of major studios), or in a museum display, or a fabulously fitted out dressing room at your estate. The added allure of that engraved brass plaque, a name and "Rouen", and the old cabin label - just too too Titanic, isn't it?  Measurements are noted on the photos.

Very good to excellent condition for age and type. This is mid-1800s, the old leather is aged, yet important straps to close it for carry/use are fine. One side strap is gone, but the other side, and the one that goes from back to front are intact. See the front closure, which can be fitted with a padlock. Remember, the interior red box would have been storage for jewelry and possible cash, and the top hat box would not leave the traveler's possession. Such a fun old thing. The top hat is not the best we've ever had, and I did not spend time wiping it down with a lightly damp cloth, and apologize for the dust visible on it. There are 2 push or pressure indentations on one part, but no holes. The French maker's gold embossed label is bright on the inner lining of the top hat.
