A truly spectacular 18th century French mother of pearl scent etui, vest pocket size necessaire with the original 2 flasks, bottles, flacon - typically one for perfume and the other for salts/vinaigrette like smelling salts to facilitate a more pleasant passing through groups of 1700s people. The hinged etui is in sterling silver clad with mother of pearl panels. No panels are missing nor damaged (no chips, cracks). Each panel is incised or engraved and then had been filled with silver foil, not all of which remains but enough to elevate the designs. Hinge and clasp working well, and there is nothing to keep a collector from enjoying this one. Museum quality and condition, the red or cranberry glass perfume bottles are facet cut and have remainders of cork stoppers. The lids are also original and undamaged. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. It's in the best condition of any we've ever found, too. Not even a chip on the mother of pearl (some silver foil missing, of course) and the bottles not only there but no flaws to them, either. Both of the original silver caps, no flaws there either. Note they're worked differently so the owner can choose scent. It's just in from France. We won't have this one very long.
