Rare to find, this 45" long gold lady's watch or lorgnette chain is in excellent condition, has a pearl and emerald slide and a 14k fob clasp, the chain is 12k (acid tested) and dates early Victorian era or slightly before, c.1820-30s. I've included a couple of portrait miniatures of ladies of the era with their extra long chains to show how they were worn. For this offering, you're buying the fine gold chain and the claret-red box in which I'd found it in France. Gold embossment mentions a watch maker in France. The outer box is brown leather, very fine condition. Lots of photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, as noted it has been acid tested and affirmed at 12k gold for the chain, and the fob clasp as at least 14, but not 18k, might be 15-16k. There are no crimps or bends to the extra long 45" chain. The weight of the chain is 16.2 grams. The box is fitted for a pendant but came with this chain. Box is also in excellent condition for age.
