Delightful antique Victorian to Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved smoker's stand, an upright hiking bear figure with pack on his back, painted mouth & black glass or metal bead eyes and "Geneve" marked souvenir! The bears are always the most sought after, particularly heading into autumn and holidays, both for decor and for gifting. This fabulous old Grand Tour souvenir bear smoker's stand is as charming as can be, the base marked "Geneve" and a souvenir of that Swiss city, a virtual hub of Black Forest treasures. Shown in an upright walking position, the bear has a basket or barrel on his back that's perfect for cigarettes, cheroots or small cigars or even pipe tobacco. The brass ashtray insert with a rest on the side. A lovely piece, as charming as can be!
Very good condition. There is a tiny split at his right ankle area but it's been glued so there is no movement or risk of breakage. The cigar rest on the side of the brass ashtray has some visible solder so it's either been added later or re-soldered to the rim. No other flaws, breaks or damage to note. See pictures for measurements.
