A wonderful silver horse and carriage on one side, and a yet-to-be-monogrammed cartouche of silver on the other (likely .800 silver, though not marked), this is a fun case! This is a rather unique old shell etui, cigar case in a slightly larger size and shape than we normally stock; this one being Dutch made, or at least that's the information we have on it, and I believe it to be right. The case is about the same length as the more traditional French and English cigar cases in shell, but is wider and somewhat flatter when empty. Just a different style, but the same superb and beautifully colored/mottled old shell, of course.
Good to very good condition, it's mid-1800s and the leather baffles show some wear, but it's serviceable if you'd like to put it to use, or absolutely beautiful if you want it for display. A fine couple of big flattish panels of shell, in case you need some for your guitar making projects, too, guys. (we sometimes sell antique shell to guitar makers for trim and ornamental inlays). See images for measurements.
