Such an interesting woman, this one. Beautifully attired in blue and white, jewelry including French Empire Palais Royal buckle at her high-waisted gown. The combines tight bottle curls with a large tortoise shell ornamental comb like those worn with the Spanish lace mantilla or scarf/veil. She shows bits of her selections from her own early Grand Tour, by all indications, and does so quite proudly. The artist has not signed this charming miniature, and it, too, might well have been one souvenir of her travels. The frame style is English and retains its convex cover glass protecting this oversized miniature painting. The measurements are noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type. Some crazing on the lacquered board frame, typical of age. The painting is undamaged, no warp, no hairlines nor cracks. It is still attached to its paper backing. Convex cover glass and the heirloom artwork protected well and without damage to report.
