Gorgeous antique French 18k gold on sterling silver "vermeil" 4pc entremet or dessert sized knife set, shimmering solid mother of pearl handles with vermeil cartouche inlays and crown topped "AP" monograms! Just a set of four, yes, but what an exceptional set! As stunning as fine old French vermeil comes and I've always simply loved mother of pearl mixed in there somewhere :). All blades bear the post-1838 French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within the marks means they're in .950 silver under the gold plating (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). Also marked "Gavet" and the tiny silversmith marks appear to read "L.G." though I've not found a definitive reference yet (I'll add that info if I can find it in my reference guides). A scrumptious set of four, don't miss them!
Very good to excellent condition. Very faint surface scuffs visible but hardly a sign of wear to the vermeil finish. No chips, cracks or damage to the mother of pearl handles. See pictures for weights and measurements.
