An incredibly sweet portrait of an infant, signed by the artist and dated 1898, it has influences of the French Impressionist movement. Artist, "Maggie" captured the innocence of a baby, and a genuine smile. The gathered Edwardian Era gown of white has trim of baby blue, though it's harder to tell if the child is a boy or a girl, since the hair is parted both on side and center. My guess is it's a boy. No ID, and a special painting because by this era photographs were much more common. The little portrait is housed in a fine bronze frame, heavy for its size, and fit with both an easel back and hanging loop. Full measurements are noted on the photos, but that cute face is just 5/8" from chin to hairline.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, the painting is original to the painting, which is protected beneath original and slightly convex cover glass. Wafer is shown for your review. No warp, no damage to the bronze frame, either.
