Delightful antique French Napoleon III to Belle Epoque era doorbell or servant's bell, a charming carved stone or marble dog on an opulent hand carved white marble or alabaster pillow base! Isn't this one so cute! Another of our finds from the recent trip to Paris and, of course, we had to have it (if only for a little while). At first I thought the dog was in bronze but, if you look closely at the images, you can see the striations in the stone/marble, he even has two toned glass eyes. We didn't take the bottom metal panel off to see exactly how it works (or would have worked) but I think I may. If so, I'll add a picture of the mechanism. There is a hole in the back of the pillow for a wire that is no longer. A wonderful little decorative accent, whether or not you restore to working condition.
Very good condition. As noted, we haven't verified if the inner bell mechanism is intact or in working condition. Possibly a tiny nip or two but no chips to the figure or pillow base. See pictures for measurements.
