Fine antique French Napoleon III or Victorian to early Edwardian era gilt bronze & veined green marble 7" barometer with silvered dial, bow & ribbon top and brass backing with easel stand! Another wonderful desk or mantel top barometer stand just in from France, this one with more of an Empire style with bow & ribbon and foliate garland accenting the top of the gilded bronze barometer bezel or framework. Mounted on and contrasting beautifully with a richly veined green marble plaque. This one with no maker mark that I can see but I did not remove the backing to see if there was one on the inner mechanism. An elegant desk top decorative accent.
Very good condition. I've looked very closely at the pipe and it appears that there may be a hairline crack in the marble at about the 10 and 4 o'clock positions around the gild barometer frame but it's hardly noticeable and stable. This one was small enough to place in a large zip lock bag to apply pressure to see if the needle moved and it did though I can't say whether it's accurate or not. See pictures for all measurements.
