Looking for all the world to be a c.1750-80s French Noblewoman, this stunningly beautiful portrait miniature in dore bronze frame would actually have been painted about a century later on, and painted for the Grand Tour tourist souvenir trade. Miniatures like this had great appeal, often were done after museum or palace paintings of important historical figures. This one has a stylization of several of the women of the Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette women. Beautifully done, very nicely preserved. Full measurements noted on photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, age and type considered. Nice heavy dore bronze oval frame and convex cover glass have kept this painting perfectly for some 170 to 150 years. No damage. No warp, delicate palette and artistry. I see no signature.
