Aren't these wonderful! A complete twelve piece set of antique French hallmarked .800 (nearly sterling) silver shellfish or oyster fork set with "Filet" or "Old English Thread" style pattern, engraved monograms and wonderful condition in the original storage and/or presentation case. The blade portions, from the handle up, are solid .800 silver and bear the French Minverve or Minerva hallmarks (just the shape and inner markings designate the .800 content, 80% pure so just under the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The handles are also .800 hallmarks but are not solid, the rounded form is either hollow or, more likely, filled. There are two sets of silversmith marks on the various blades, "M.F." and "L.V." though I've not been able to find reference for either as of yet. The set dates to the late 1800s. A lovely set, ready to use...ready to impress!
Very good condition. Some faint surface scuffs to the sterling handles but, as you can see, they're all in great shape. The box is, we think, original to the set and is in great shape, age considered. See pictures for measurements.
