This is a mid-1800s wool and silk yarn needlepoint tapestry or sampler, a child with an aged man, beautiful composition and interior, begs to be framed again (it has obviously been in a frame), or to be made up as a down-filled tapestry throw pillow - you know the type, velvet, lush fringe and tassels, and down-filled accent or decorator pillow. Perhaps a religious setting, or maybe just a Medieval grandfather and child. Full measurements noted on the photos.
Very good to excellent condition throughout, age and type considered. The canvas is supple, there are no holes or worn spots, no losses to the woolen and silk yarns used. It is a sturdy one which would serve well made up as a pillow, or used as wall art in a nice frame. Photos show that it has not had deterioration of being hung in bright sunlight - the yarns show little if any fading. Nice-sized and wonderful palette. And no odors.
