Empire Revival or Victorian era, a return to the exotic Empire representations popularized by the expansion under Napoleon. These are not slaves. The representations of the Blackamoor pictured free Africans, Middle Easterners, often trades people. France did not own or trade in slaves much beyond the French Revolutionary era, about 80 years before these were made.
Very good to excellent for age and type, no holes, no tears, no lost stitches, no breaks in the handles/frames. The silkworm on a heavy linen canvas remain in superb condition, still set in the natural bamboo framework and with 1 original tassel still there with the trim. Measurements noted on the photos. Backing is old original silk, slight fading. You are buying the pair, together, as shown.
