The rare original sealed back, paper original and in place, usually will be broken by this age (more than 200 years) in a need to clean the interior of the cover glass. As you can see from our digital photos of it, the glass remains sealed and really very clean on the interior, age considered. For that reason, I have never opened this one. Tempting, since I often find signatures on outer rim or backside ID, a tucked in note or sometimes a lock of hair (memento token). I will leave it to her next owner to decide whether to go searching for more into. I found her hat so unique and charming. Chain and watch tucked into her Empire waist belt, all of which taken to monochrome and her face is all the more highlighted. I suspect there is a reflective foil behind her face, hat and collar. Full measurements are noted on the photos, but that elegant face is only 1/2" from chin to hairline/hat brim.
Very good to excellent condition for age and type, there are no flaws to note on the painting, perfectly preserved within the sealed original placement in frame. The surface of the wood shows age, visible in our photos. Slightly convex cover glass is the original, as well.
