Fabulous antique French c. 1770-90s Louis XVI era hand painted portrait miniature in a carved & gilded wood picture frame, a seated woman holding a framed portrait of a child! Quite a unique pose! The sitter a Francois Boucher style woman in pinstriped dress, seated in a chair with drapes visible in the background and so unique in that she's depicted holding a framed portrait of a child. Pencil writing on the back of the frame appears to read (?) Laval though I'm not sure when or by whom it was written. Perhaps a rendition of Madame Lacroix-Laval? A beautiful miniature painting nonetheless! Whether your interest is in the portrait miniature, or in having art work for your antique doll's house, you're sure to find this one of highest appeal.
Very good condition. I see no damage to either the portrait/painting or frame. See pictures for all measurements.
