Fabulous antique to vintage French hallmarked sterling silver 8 7/8" coffee or tea pot, teapot, an Egoist or Aesthetic Movement style with lobed or pumpkin shaped body, elegant spout & ornate footed base! We have three gorgeous French coffee or tea pots this week that would fall into the Egoist or Aesthetic style. Aestheticism was an art movement supporting the emphasis of aesthetic values over socio-political themes and was about sensuality & nature. This piece with a lobed or undulating body & spout, unique footed base and a large pomegranate or fruit finial. The base, lid & finial bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means it's in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are for Alphonse Debain, Paris c. 1911-1916. One of several great old French pots that we're adding this week and currently have available so be sure to browse & enjoy while you're with us. Thanks!
Very good condition. Possibly a tiny dimple or two but no larger dents, no damage or repairs. The carved handle is also fully intact and free of any damage other than a bit of visible hairline age/drying splitting (only visible from the top and inside, not the sides. See pictures for weight and measurements.
