Elegant antique French hallmarked sterling silver & intaglio etched or engraved condiment or caviar service dish with laurel garland motif and wheel cut accenting! One could either have a smaller glass dish floating on ice chips within this one's inner well or even use this as the actual caviar dish and have it resting on ice in a larger outer bowl. A beautiful piece, the etched foliate patterns and wheel cut fluting along with the sun or starburst cut into the base. The outer sterling silver band with laurel garland and all combined to create this elegant serving piece. The silver bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within that mark means it's in .950 silver (95% pure so it's actually a higher content than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith mark is tiny and partially illegible so we've not found reference to it as of listing. Gorgeous!
Very good to excellent condition. The only flaw I see, if one could call it that, is some surface scuffing to the base. No chips, cracks, etc. to the glass and no dents or dimples to the silver. See images for all measurements.
