Elegant antique French sterling silver 2" napkin ring with ornate Empire style decoration and "Julia" inscription! A beautiful and heavy piece, the front with a large medallion with the monogram, the sides with scrolling tendrils and those lovely Empire style quivers with arrows & even a bow. This one marked with the post-1878 French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number “1” within that mark means it’s in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for “sterling” silver). The silversmith mark is clearly visible, "GB", but I've not found reference to it as of listing.
YES, a single here but one of several superb antique and vintage sterling silver napkin rings that we're adding today (and in the weeks ahead) so be sure to browse our current offerings to build a collection fit for royalty :). We’ve amassed over 100 great old mostly French sterling napkin rings over the years and I’m working on them now. And, isn't it much neater if all are unique, each with a history...a story of its own! We have rococo style napkin rings, guilloche style machined or engraved napkin rings, French Empire style napkin rings, personalized napkin rings with the original owners’ names on them… Just a massive array of styles and aesthetically unbeatable! Browse and enjoy, they’re all so lovely and sure to add to your fine dining experience (and that of your guests, too)!
Good to very good condition. Some light surface marks or scuffing and there are a few blackened tarnish marks visible (I'll try to buff those out before sending). There is also slight splitting on the back side where the silver panel was silver soldered together but it's strong enough for use and there are no dents, dings, other damage or repairs. See pictures for all measurements.
