Such an interesting face and a young man who is very particular about his thinning hair. An unusual portrait for the combover he's employed. The frame and painting are original, cover glass as well. Circa late 1700s, very English Georgian in dress and original art. I don't find a signature, but the back is sealed and I didn't wish to break the seal to see if perhaps there is more information within, or a signature of ID along the hidden edge which is sometimes the case. Full of character.
Very good to excellent condition, there are no flaws to note on the painting and only very slight age to the nicely preserved frame, cartouche, mat. A gentleman of fine breeding and demeanor, we wish we knew his story. These are wonderful as portraits for doll houses. Your Bru would love this one. Measurements noted on our photos.
